Let Us Be Mindful Of Why

Be Mindful of Why

It is important to be mindful of why we do what we do.  What compels us to sell everything, move to a foreign country, and start a new church where there was none before (to the english speaking community here)?  Love.  That’s what compels us.  And gratitude.

We’ve been rescued out of darkness and into the light!  Does anything else even matter in comparison?  At the end of our days, will we say, “I wish I’d made more money” or will we say, “I wish I’d shared the gospel with more people”?

2 Corinthians 5:14  “For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.”

Colossians 1:12-14giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

1 Corinthians 9:16  “For when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, since I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!”

Acts 20:22 “And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there.

We Obeyed The Call

Last year, in late March, the Spirit of God began stirring afresh the call to move to Costa Rica.  Michael graduated from school on June 3rd, and we followed as the Spirit led us to sell everything (which only took 1 month) and be in Costa Rica by July 12th.  We were led to start the church on August 7th.  Wow, right?  God moved FAST!

We left not knowing what we were going to be doing exactly, but obeyed the call.  Jesus said “freely you have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8).  Our “why” is because of what Jesus did for us.  Because through Jesus, we’re SAVED!  (I get so excited when I meditate on that)  How can we keep silent about such a truth!

Some Of The Fruit

Some of the fruit of our laboring with the Holy Spirit can best be described in the photos below – the representations of the friendships we’ve built at Living Water Calvary Chapel of Costa Rica.  This is just a small example for there are too many photos to put them all up here. Rejoice with us as we celebrate and thank the Lord for the blessed opportunity to participate with Him in this work!
